Feintool at the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology expo: interview with Lars Reich.

Editor: Lars Reich, Feintool participated at the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo from September 14 to 16. How was it?

Lars Reich: It was a very successful trade show. We could really feel the energy: People wanted to get out again, they want to meet in person, everyone had a strong desire to exchange ideas “live and in color” after countless virtual events. This was also reflected in the number of visitors. I can’t remember the last time I experienced so many visitors at an exhibition. On the morning of the second day of the exhibition, I couldn’t even find a parking space, and as you know, parking spaces in America are not exactly small.

What did you present at the Feintool booth?

We had a small but nice booth where we presented our components as they are used in the electrified drive – along our entire competence portfolio. Fineblanked contact levers made of copper, formed deep-drawn electric motor housings or stamped electrical sheets. By the way, we received the copper parts from our plant in Ettlingen, while Obertshausen provided us with the housings. This is a good example of how we are able to showcase our global expertise on a regional base. And, of course, it was also a great internal collaboration and teamwork. Thanks to all the contributions from Ettlingen, Jessen and Obertshausen.

And how was the response from the visitors?

Extremely pleasing! Normally, at a trade show, we have time in between to talk to your colleagues. This was not the case this year. The entire Feintool delegation was in exchange with interested visitors almost around the clock. We were able to generate many leads. In the next few days, just one week after the trade fair, we are already conducting the first follow-up discussions and meeting.

Who are they specifically?

That is quite diverse. For example, we have presented our products to various TIER1 suppliers from the powertrain sector. A manufacturer of sensors for speed measurement / puls-wheels producer has shown particular interest in our formed parts and processes, to name just a few.

What is your conclusion?

We will certainly be there again next year, and with a larger stand. This is also due to the importance of the topic of electromobility. It was right and important to “mark our presence” here. In the USA, too, a lot is now happening in the area of electromobility – even if we still lagging beyond Europe. Traditionally, Feintool has primarily been an important player in the combustion engine segment. In this segment we know all the players. Now it is important to look beyond our own nose and get to know this world, which is still new to us, and to get our message across to the new players in the area of vehicle electrification. We have made a good start with our presence at the trade show.

quote-icon Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo brings together hundreds of suppliers across the electric hybrid vehicle and battery industries. There are components and systems that make EVs and HEVs unique, including batteries, electronics, motors, inverters, power management, charging, and more.

Feintool is an internationally active market leader in the technologies of fineblanking, forming and sheet metal stamping for processing steel sheets.
