Fineblanking is a precision metal part-production process combining stamping and cold forming. Modern seat mechanisms in vehicles today achieve precise positional adjustment using strong, precision tolerance, and geometrically complex parts. Fineblanking is an ideal process for producing these components because it combines machining-like tolerances with stamping's cost efficiency.

Unlike stamping, fineblanking produces smooth, tear‑free edges, minimal taper and tight dimensional accuracy, often within ±0.001 inch. The fineblanking tool can be engineered in a way that it also forms features like bends, counterbores and chimneys in the same operation, it can significantly reduce downstream secondary processing. The result is lower total cost and more consistent part quality.

Fineblanking achieves near‑net‑shape parts, reducing or eliminating secondary machining and deburring, as well as additional forming steps.
