Everywhere Feintool Operates, We Source Locally, Sell Locally, and Develop Strong Local Teams
In all the regions we serve, we aim to make ourselves a part of that region and a long-term contributor to the success of that part of the world.
Today, the way forward looks different for different regions. In Asia, our capacity is expanding. We are proud to say we will soon open a major production facility in India.
In Europe, where we have been established the longest, the production mix among countries is shifting. This has involved sending key personnel from Switzerland to support and learn from the teams in locations such as the Czech Republic.
And in North America, our commitment to operating locally and investing for the long term has paid dividends. During a time of challenge and uncertainty around the globe, the United States remains a strong market. The main reason is not any recent development. Rather, our U.S. success is a result of the way we have remained consistent in this market for a long time.
Feintool entered the U.S. in 1971. The economic crisis of 2008 was a deep low point for our U.S. operations, as it was for other U.S. manufacturers. But we weathered this, and have continued steadily growing since then, respecting the unique culture and needs of this market. In the U.S., performance is what matters, not your papers, and if you deliver the right solution, you can win. But the service expectation here is very high and very demanding. Any problem must be addressed quickly, and this has required us to maintain strong staffing.
Now, we are seeing renewed interest in manufacturing in the U.S., with many Asian and European companies moving to develop U.S. operations.
A part of our long-standing role in any market is the special strength we can bring. In the U.S., an area of need is the skilled workforce. We brought our heritage of training to the U.S., founding an apprenticeship program which we have operated since 1987 in partnership with a local community college. This effort demonstrates what we see as the most important aspect of manufacturing locally. To carry out our commitment to be part of every region we serve, we invest in the people.
