Feintool System Parts Jena GmbH receives award for sustainable personnel management.

On February 19, 2020, Feintool System Parts Jena GmbH was awarded the seal “Strong Future – Demography-oriented Company” for the second time in a row and also received the NAT certificate. In the sealing process, the company’s human resources management is examined for sustainability and, on receipt, is awarded for its future viability. IWT – Institut der Wirtschaft Thüringen GmbH coordinates the process of awarding the seal. The Add on: The seal also entitles the company to participate in the Thuringian Sustainability Agreement (NAT).

Social sustainability includes aspects such as equal opportunities, occupational health and safety and participation in lifelong learning. How is this now structured at Feintool System Parts Jena GmbH?

“Diversity and equal opportunities as well as a cross-generational transfer of knowledge and a culture of health are lived practice at Feintool System Parts Jena GmbH,” says Roswitha Weitz, Managing Director of IWT – Institut der Wirtschaft Thüringen GmbH. The health and safety of employees is a top priority at Feintool System Parts Jena GmbH. To ensure that these goals are achieved, Feintool successfully established an occupational safety management system and in 2018 was awarded the “Sicher mit System” (“Systematic Safety”) seal of approval by the Berufsgenossenschaft Holz und Metall (Employers’ Liability Insurance Association for Wood and Metal).

A multilingual welcome brochure (German/English) makes it easier for trainees and new employees with a migration background to join the company. The induction phase for these people is also supported by mentoring and the company’s own e-learning units. These e-learning units include training videos produced by the training manager. At the same time, the company relies on a regular exchange of knowledge and experience between its sites worldwide. For example, trainees already have the opportunity to gain their first experience abroad at a location of the parent company during their apprenticeship.

Steffen Nipperdey, Head of Human Resources at Feintool System Parts Jena GmbH, comments: “As an employer, we are using the seal to signal to the employee market that we are more attractive to job applicants and employees. The audit process has shown us that managers, trainers and personnel developers in particular must pay attention to the sustainable retention, recruitment and development of skilled workers in order to maintain long-term site security”.

In the sealing process, corporate activities in the fields of personnel development and management, knowledge and competence, equal opportunities and diversity, and health (promotion) are evaluated using defined indicators. Currently, 31 Thuringian companies carry the seal of approval. They include both smaller companies with 10 employees and larger ones with more than 3,500 employees from a wide variety of industries.

Feintool is an internationally active market leader in the technologies of fineblanking, forming and sheet metal punching for the processing of steel sheets.
