Feintool at the Blechexpo Stuttgart day 2.

Mastering the balancing act between function and quality without compromise – with Fineblanking

Until Friday, the 15th Blechexpo takes place at the Messe in Stuttgart. At booth 4101 in hall 4, Feintool will be presenting highlights of its core competencies in press construction, fineblanking, e-sheet stamping and forming.

On the second day of Blechexpo, Edi Güntensberger, Executive Manager Sales and Key Account, gives us revealing insights into how fineblanking ensures safety, functionality and durability in mobility today and in the future.

1. Edi, what is your personal impression of this year’s Blechexpo?

People tend to appreciate things only when they are no longer there. I felt a little bit like that when no more public fairs were possible in the past two years. So it’s all the more enjoyable now to once again be able to cultivate personal exchange with customers and partners in Stuttgart. Time and time again, it has been shown that personal contact is still the best way to retain customers as well as to acquire new ones. In addition to facts and data, we need trusting relationships, the right emotions and transparent dialog at eye level. These are indispensable elements for orientation and decision-making in a business process. Because as a rule, people argue rationally, but decide emotionally. A trade fair with the charisma of Blechexpo offers an ideal platform for this. And I think we have also succeeded in conveying this message, this idea, with our presence here at Blechexpo.

2. And in practical-technical terms?

We are here at the most important trade show in the industry. Of course, that obliges. On the one hand the organization, on the other hand us. Feintool is focusing on e-mobility applications: e-motors, hybrid solutions, bipolar plates in hydrogen drive systems, and fineblanked and formed parts for e-mobility. Blechexpo is dedicated to networking and automation. You can’t think of any one of these fields in a useful way without thinking of the other at the same time. Thus, e-mobility and networking are also very closely intertwined. I’m thinking of software for a user-friendly charging infrastructure that guides the driver of an e-car to the most suitable charging station at the right time. Or of course, relevant for Feintool: Assistance systems in production technology, the development and networking of sensor technology, the potential of data analysis in the fineblanking process, preventive maintenance, and the use of AI in general.

3. What role will fineblanking play in the mobility of the future?

Particularly in safety-relevant areas such as seat mechanisms, seatbelt pretensioners or brake pad carriers, the outstanding role of fineblanking will remain unbroken tomorrow. Electromobility, however, also opens up a new world of parts for us, such as busbars, which, as electrical contacts made of copper, have to meet the highest requirements in the high-voltage range. Either way, parts from Feintool master the balancing act between function and quality without compromise – today and in the future.

4. What requirements do customers expect from fineblanking today?

By focusing and specializing on parts production, we have achieved a unique level of competence worldwide. This makes us a valued partner in all fineblanking applications. From the customer’s point of view, the “magic” triangle of cost-effectiveness, quality and productivity is of primary importance. Fineblanking brings these three parameters into the highest possible harmony.
