Extending technical boundaries: Feintool at the Stamping Technology Congress 2023.
Over 260 participants met in Dortmund (GER) on April 17/18 to exchange ideas on the latest trends in stamping technology. Feintool presented the advantages and latest developments in fineblanking and forming technology in a technical lecture and showcased applications for future markets using flexible and state-of-the-art press systems at the accompanying exhibition.
Whether in production, development or company management, everyone agrees that time-to-market should be shortened, overall plant effectiveness improved and thus profitability increased. The technical solution of equipment and tools plays a central role in this. Sven Hofstetter, Head of the Tools Competence Center at Feintool Technologie AG, sees it this way in his presentation: “On the one hand, we see technical trends in fineblanking and forming with extended process limits, an achievement of increased requirements and high part complexity. On the other hand, we see economic trends such as the elimination of subsequent operations, a reduction in material consumption and a necessary increase in productivity.” Here, the process of fineblanking brings significant advantages, which can be used in a wide variety of applications, he said. Fineblanking enables smooth, tear-free cut surfaces with an increased functional area. In addition, the highest standards of flatness are achieved, the smallest tolerances over the entire cut surface as well as unbeatable positional tolerances of the various features in relation to each other. Hofstetter is convinced: “Thanks to the fineblanking process in conjunction with smart tooling concepts, the process limits can be shifted, indentations eliminated, and even formed parts can be produced on fineblanking presses. This increases cost-effectiveness and competitiveness through finished parts falling out of the die, with reduced material usage. With the latest fineblanking technology, parts with the highest stroke rates can be produced reliably without impact points.”
The Stamping Technology Congress is organized annually by the Competence and Innovation Center for Stamping Technology Dortmund e.V. (KIST) and the Chair of Forming Technology and Foundry Engineering at the Technical University of Munich (utg). Fineblanking Technology AG has been working successfully with both partners for many years, for example with utg in the field of stamping electrical sheets.
