Job Duties: First line support responsibility of production fineblanking and forming tools, specifically, roll forming tooling used in producing complex steel transmission parts; optimizes and troubleshoots new and existing production tools including roll forming tooling for transfer dies and fineblanking tooling for fineblanking dies; maintains tool maintenance journal (records) and inventory of tools and spare elements; performs minor equipment maintenance on tool room machines; builds and repairs complex forming or fineblanking tools with direction from engineering drawings (blueprints) or work sketches; follows in-process Quality Control procedures and documentation; cleans area, with emphasis on controlling waste oils and sludge, around tool room machinery and equipment; and attends feasibility and preliminary new tool design review meetings.
Job Requirements: Applicant must have either successfully completed a Toolmaker apprenticeship or vocational training program or foreign equivalent as evidenced by certification as a Toolmaker or have at least two years of experience working as a Toolmaker or an Apprentice in the tool and die industry. Additionally, applicant must also have one additional year of experience performing all of the following: supporting roll forming (i.e. Schuler 2000T, Schuler 1600T, or Kaiser FFS 500T) as a Toolmaker in a production environment; completing production tasks such as measuring block and punches or cutting threads using basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry (shop math); reading basic and detailed vendor supplied blueprints and translating metrics vs US measures and scales and identifying height, width, length, depth, slops, angles, etc.; squaring or machining a block to exact specifications detailed on the blueprint through use of basic machining skills (i.e. lathes, mills etc); differentiating high alloy steel from aluminum, copper, brass and other metals in tooling components; evaluating and choosing appropriate (cutting, forming, punching) applications to be used for different types of steel (i.e. A2, D2, O1, S7). Infrequent, occasional travel (5%) to Feintool Cincinnati or technical seminars for OJT training. Applicants with any suitable combination of education, training or experience are acceptable at this threshold.
