The HFA hydraulic fineblanking presses are rightly regarded as the workhorses of the Feintool product range. Even the basic con-figuration is capable of satisfying a very large range of market requirements. The products that HFA presses around the world manufacture include seat adjusters, brake lining plates, transmission disks or seatbelt buckle tongues. "If customers have specific requirements, we can easily adapt the press, tools and peripherals to them," says Markus Schaltegger, Head of Press Construction at Feintool. HFA series presses can be adapted to individual requirements in many different ways. An established range of peripherals, including feeding lines, tool change trolleys, removal devices and fully automatic deburring and washing systems, is available to automate production.
By giving its tried-and-tested HFAplus series a thorough overhaul, Feintool has further boosted the range's capabilities, as evidenced by the impressive stroke rates of up to 100 a minute achieved by the HFAspeed models. This advanced version is based on the established HFA design, but augmented by high-performance hydraulics that incorporate new features to increase ram speed. The principle is simple. A hydraulic press's performance is restricted by the output of its hydraulic pump and the maximum possible flow rates in its valves and hydraulic blocks. The more litres delivered in a minute and the higher the flow rate, the faster the hydraulic system runs.
HFA presses are ideal for producing complex 3D parts, for production activities that involve large strokes and working travel and for integrating processes into tools. Using a transfer tool, for example, it is possible to fineblank, deburr and form in one throughput movement. Instead of three systems, there is only one fineblanking press to supervise and maintain, which reduces total manufacturing costs.
This is possible in part thanks to the HFAspeed's new hydraulic functions, which feature controllable vee-ring and pressure pad synchronization to reduce the amount by which the press opens and therefore its total stroke. Optimized acceleration and feed rate plus faster separation of scrap and workpiece also help shorten cycle times.
